Life and Work
Miguel Ximénez worked in a city called Saragossa. Records show he was active there between 1462 and 1505. This means he painted for over 40 years!
In 1484, something very special happened. On May 11, he was chosen to be the official painter for Ferdinand II of Aragon. Ferdinand was a very powerful king in Spain. Being a "court painter" meant he was highly respected and got important jobs from the king.
Miguel Ximénez's art was quite special. Other artists, like Bartolomé Bermejo and Martín Bernat, were inspired by his style. This shows how important his work was back then. His own son, Juan Ximénez, also became a painter and helped his father.
