Milanka Opačić was also a vice-president of the Social Democratic Party. This is one of the main political parties in Croatia. Milanka Opačić was re-elected to the Sabor many times. She was a close helper to Zoran Milanović, who later became the Prime Minister. In September 2018, she left the Social Democratic Party. In August 2019, she joined a different political party called Bandić Milan 365 - Labour and Solidarity Party.
