Miles City Steam Laundry: A Look Back

The Miles City Steam Laundry was once a busy place where clothes were cleaned using steam. It was an important part of the community in Miles City for many years.

Building History

The building started as a one-story structure in 1908. A few years later, around 1910 to 1912, a second floor was added. Over time, more one-story sections were built onto it. The building was quite large, measuring about 51 feet by 116 feet (which is about 15.5 meters by 35.3 meters).

Why Was It Important?

The Miles City Steam Laundry was recognized as a historic place because it showed how buildings were designed and used in the early 1900s. Being on the National Register of Historic Places means a building is special and worth remembering for its history or architecture. Even though it's gone now, its story is still part of Miles City's past.
