The Store's Beginning
Donald Miller started a Rexall pharmacy in 1960. A few years later, in 1965, he moved the store to its current spot at 87 Broad Street. At first, it was a regular pharmacy. But customers soon began asking for natural health products and hoodoo supplies. So, Mr. Miller started selling those too! This made the store very special.
A Family Business Grows
Later, Donald Miller's nephew, Richard Miller, took over the store. In 1994, Richard launched a website for Miller's Rexall Drugs. This was a big step! By 2010, the store's online sales were huge, bringing in over $1 million each year. This showed how popular their unique products had become, even more than sales from people visiting the store in person.
Paul McCartney's Visit
In 1999, the famous musician Paul McCartney (from The Beatles!) discovered Miller's Rexall Drugs. He saw some "Run Devil Run" bath salts in the window and bought them. He liked the name so much that he called his next album Run Devil Run after the salts! The store even appears on the album cover, though the name "Miller's" was changed to "Earl's" for the picture.
A Historic Atlanta Spot
Miller's Rexall Drugs is one of the few businesses still open on its block of Broad Street. This area used to be a very busy shopping district in Atlanta. It was once home to big stores like Rich's. Even though the area has changed a lot since the 1960s, Miller's Rexall Drugs continues to be an important and interesting part of Atlanta's history.
