History of Millthorpe Station
The first train station in this area opened on April 19, 1877. It was originally called Spring Grove. This happened when the railway line was extended from Blayney to Orange. The station's name was changed to Millthorpe on February 29, 1884. The current station, which is about 500 metres away from the first one, opened in 1886. For some years, the old station building was not used for trains. In 2016, it was used as a place where local vineyards sold wine. In October 2017, the transport authorities decided to reopen the station. They planned for it to be a "request stop" for the Central West XPT train service. This train travels between Sydney and Dubbo. To reopen the station, some work was needed. For example, the train tracks had to be moved closer to the platform again. The station officially reopened on March 15, 2019.
What the Station Looks Like

Why Millthorpe Station is Heritage Listed
Millthorpe railway station is very important to the town's history and appearance. It sits at the end of Pym Street, which makes it a noticeable building in the town. It is considered an important public building in a historic town setting. It shows great design and details. Millthorpe station is one of only four examples of this type of station building. The others were St Peters (built in 1883), Riverstone (1887), and Spring Hill (1884), which has since been taken down. Millthorpe is the only one of these stations that is still standing in the countryside and is mostly unchanged. This makes it very significant. Millthorpe railway station was officially added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on April 2, 1999.
