The dolls became very popular. Because of this success, Gill Pittar decided to write books about the characters. The very first Milly, Molly book was published in the year 2000. Since then, the books have been translated into 40 different languages. This means children all over the world can enjoy their stories!

  • Milly: A kind and curious young girl. She is best friends with Molly.
  • Molly: A cheerful and adventurous young girl. She is best friends with Milly.

  • Tom: A classmate who loves playing soccer. He is best friends with Jack.
  • Alf: A new boy who comes from a different country. Humphrey and Alf did not get along at first. But they became best friends after Alf helped Humphrey learn about being himself.
  • Sophie: A friendly girl who is good friends with Elizabeth.
  • Elizabeth: A girl who enjoys spending time with her friend Sophie.
  • Meg: A girl who really likes to eat apples.
  • Harry: A boy who has two pet mice. Their names are Brian and Brioni. In one story, Brian and Brioni had nine baby mice!
  • Humphrey: A boy who secretly likes Molly. He has a pet doberman dog named Zoltan. Humphrey often talks to Zoltan in a special "Martian" language.

Milly, Molly on TV

The Milly, Molly books were turned into an animated TV series. This show was made in 2006. It was a joint project between Australia and Singapore.

In early 2008, an agreement was made to create a second season of the show. Two young actors, Savannah Lind and Madeline Flood, worked on the TV series. The voice of Aunt Maude was done by Cornelia Frances. The show was produced for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It was made by Milly Molly Group Holdings, Scrawl Studios, and Beyond Productions. They worked together with the Media Development Authority of Singapore.
