Milovan Minja Prelević (born February 28, 1970 – died August 1, 2019) was a talented football coach and player from Montenegro. He started his football journey playing for youth teams. Later, he became a well-known coach.

Milovan played for several clubs, including FK Kom, FK Crvena Stijena, FK Budućnost, OFK Belgrade, and FK Obilić. He also represented Montenegro in youth national teams. He decided to stop playing football early to focus on coaching. His coaching career began at FK Budućnost. He also coached at OFK Petrovac, FK Kom, FK Mladost, the Montenegro Under-19 national team, and Hajer FC. Milovan held a special UEFA PRO license, which is a high coaching qualification. He also taught at the UEFA school for coaches in Montenegro.

Playing Career

Milovan started playing football when he was just 8 years old at FK Kom. He quickly showed great skill, speed, and understanding of the game. He played for all the younger teams of the Montenegro National Team and was even a captain.

Because he scored many goals, Milovan joined the youth teams of FC Budućnost. This is the biggest football club in Montenegro. He signed his first professional contract with them. When he was 19, he moved to OFK Belgrade in Serbia. He also played for FK Obilić in Serbia.

Milovan decided to end his playing career at the age of 21. After a short break from football, he returned to FK Budućnost. This time, he came back as a coach for their youth teams.

Coaching Career

Early Coaching Years (2000-2009)

In the year 2000, Milovan went to a coaching school in Niš, Serbia. He started coaching at FK Budućnost as a volunteer. By 2003, he began coaching teams on his own. In his first year, he won his first trophy, the Cadet Cup.

Milovan stayed at FK Budućnost until 2009. During this time, he coached all the youth teams. This helped him become very good at working with young players. He led his teams to win two championships and two Cups of Montenegro.

While coaching, Milovan also earned his UEFA A and UEFA PRO licenses. These are important qualifications for football coaches. He finished his studies in 2010. At that time, he was one of the few coaches from Montenegro with a UEFA PRO license.

Success with OFK Petrovac (2009-2010)

In the 2009-2010 season, Milovan moved to OFK Petrovac in Montenegro. He worked as both an assistant and a head coach. OFK Petrovac won the Cup of Montenegro that year. They also played in the Europa League, which is a big European competition. They reached the third round, which was a huge achievement for the club.

Coaching FK Mladost (2012-2014)

From 2012 to 2014, Milovan worked at OFK Mladost. He was an assistant coach and later a head coach. FK Mladost also played in the Europa League during this time. They made it to the third round, which was the best result in the club's history.

International Coaching (2015-2016)

In 2015, Milovan started as the coach for the Montenegro Under-19 national team. Later that summer, he received an offer from Hajer, a club in Saudi Arabia. At FC Hajer, he worked as an assistant coach. He was in charge of analyzing football matches and strategies.

In November 2015, Prelević joined Al-Oruba SC, a club in Oman. However, his contract ended in January 2016 due to the team's performance.

Later Coaching Roles (2017-2019)

On July 3, 2017, FK Otrant announced that Prelević would be their new manager. In July 2018, he returned to coach FK Kom again. On January 9, 2019, Milovan signed with Hangzhou Wuyue Qiantang, a club in China.

Death

Milovan Minja Prelević sadly passed away on August 1, 2019. He died suddenly from a heart attack. The club he was coaching in China, Hangzhou Wuyue Qiantang, reported that he was found in his room after not showing up for the team's departure to a match.
