John Milton Dabney (born November 1867 – died November 1967) was an American baseball player. He played as an outfielder in the 1880s. Outfielders are players who catch balls hit far into the field. Dabney was part of the Negro leagues, which were baseball leagues for African American players. These leagues existed when Black players were not allowed to play in the main professional leagues.

Milton Dabney's Baseball Story

Playing for the Cuban Giants
In 1886, Dabney joined a famous team called the Cuban Giants. This team was one of the earliest professional Black baseball teams. They were known for their skill and for traveling all over the country to play games.

Records show that Milton Dabney played in at least one game for the Cuban Giants. In this game, he had four chances to bat. A "plate appearance" is when a player comes up to bat. In his four turns, he did not get any hits. Even though his recorded career was short, he was part of an important time in baseball history.

Milton Dabney lived a long life. He passed away in Newark, New Jersey, in November 1967. He was either 99 or 100 years old when he died. His life spanned a century of big changes in America and in baseball.
