The Mincks-Adams Hotel is a historic building in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is located near the Oil Capital Historic District. A businessman named I. S. "Ike" Mincks built it between 1927 and 1928. He named it the Mincks Hotel. It was a fancy hotel made for business travelers. It opened just in time for the first International Petroleum Exposition, a big oil industry event.
In 1935, Mr. Mincks had money problems. The hotel was sold and got new owners. They renamed it the Adams Hotel. Later, in the early 1980s, it became an office building called the Adams Office Tower. This building is famous for its cool design. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on November 7, 1977. This means it's a special historical place.

About the Mincks-Adams Hotel
The Mincks-Adams Hotel sits on a piece of land about 70 feet by 75 feet. It has 13 floors, a full basement, and a top-floor penthouse. Building it cost over $800,000. The hotel has more than 67,000 square feet of space. It stands 195 feet tall. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in Tulsa. Alfred C. Fabry was the architect who designed it.
What Does It Look Like?
The building's style mixes different old designs. These include Gothic, Italian Renaissance, and Baroque styles. It was built using strong, reinforced concrete. The outside of the building is covered with shiny terra cotta tiles. These special tiles were made by the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company. Inside, you can also see terra cotta in the lobby, coffee shop, and stairways.
A Place for Reporters
The Tulsa Press Club, a group for reporters, had its main office here. They moved into the hotel's mezzanine floor on July 30, 1950. The club later moved to other buildings. They even came back to the Adams Hotel in 1981. But they found their old spot wasn't right for them anymore.
New Life for the Hotel
In December 2017, new owners bought the building. They plan to turn it into apartments. This big project was expected to finish in the summer of 2019.
