Her Journey in Film

Mingmongkol Sonakul's father is Chatumongol Sonakul. She studied filmmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute in the United States. After her studies, she worked as an intern at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Later, she returned to Thailand to begin her career in movies.

As a director, Mingmongkol likes to make films that are a bit different and artistic. Her first full-length movie was called I-San Special. This film showed passengers on a bus traveling from Bangkok to Isan. The movie used sounds from a radio soap opera to tell a story.

In 2005, she co-directed a film called 3 Friends. This movie starred Napakpapha Nakprasitte. It mixed ideas from popular video CDs and reality TV shows. The film showed the actress and two friends enjoying a beach vacation.
