Mini Mathur (born August 21, 1972) is a well-known Indian television host, actor, and model. Many people know her as the host of the popular singing show Indian Idol for six seasons. Before that, she was a VJ on MTV India, where she hosted many fun shows. Mini has a degree in English literature and also studied marketing. She recently starred in the Amazon series Mind the Malhotras, where she played the main character, Shefali Malhotra. For this role, she won seven awards for best actor! She also hosts the Discovery School Super League on Discovery India. Plus, she produces and presents her own travel show called Minime.

Mini's Journey in TV and Films

Mini Mathur is one of India's most famous TV hosts. She studied English literature at Lady Sriram College and business management at Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

Starting Her Career

Mini began her career in advertising. She got a chance to model for Ray-Ban sunglasses, which led to more modeling jobs. Soon, she hosted her first game show on Indian TV called Tol Mol Ke Bol. After hosting more game shows and a travel show, she moved to Mumbai. There, she became a VJ for MTV India.

Time at MTV

For four years, Mini was a popular VJ at MTV. She hosted concerts with international artists and interviewed many film and pop stars. She also visited youth campuses and gave advice on different topics. Mini even hosted a show called Bombay Blush, which was about Indian culture and aired in the UK on BBC2.

Hosting Popular Shows

Mini became even more famous when she hosted the first season of Indian Idol. She was a favorite host for three seasons of the show. After taking a break to have a baby, she hosted other music shows. She also hosted Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, which was the Indian version of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!". For this show, she lived in the jungles of Taman Negara in Malaysia for two months!

Mini also appeared as a celebrity contestant on Jhalak Dikhlaja Season 2. She hosted a sports quiz show called Sports ka Superstar. This helped her learn more about sports. She even appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati (the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire) as an expert helper. In 2012, she returned to host Indian Idol for its sixth season. In 2019, she hosted the BYJU's Discovery School Super League with Cyrus Sahukar on Discovery Channel.

She also hosts an interview show on DD, the national channel. In this show, she talks to politicians, business leaders, and other important people. Mini is known for her great style and her love for colorful handloom sarees. She has appeared in many advertisements for brands like Ultra Doux, L'Oreal, and Comfort.

Mini's Family Life

Mini Mathur was born into a Chitraguptavanshi Kayastha family. She lives in Mumbai with her husband, who is a film director named Kabir Khan. They have two children, Vivaan and Sairah.
