Ministry of Health (Israel) facts for kids
The Ministry of Health (Hebrew: מִשְׂרַד הַבְּרִיאוּת, translit. Misrad HaBri'ut) is a key part of the Israeli government. Its main job is to create and manage health policies for the country. This ministry makes sure that healthcare services are planned, watched over, and properly licensed. It also helps coordinate all the different health services available.
The Ministry of Health oversees many healthcare providers. These include organizations like Kupat Holim and Maccabi. It also looks after family health centers, such as Tipat Halav. Beyond that, the ministry runs general hospitals and hospitals that help with mental health. They also manage clinics for mental health and programs that help people with certain health challenges. They also provide facilities for people who have long-term illnesses.
As of late 2023, the person in charge, the Minister of Health, is Uriel Buso.
History of the Ministry
The Ministry of Health was established in 1948. Over the years, it has worked to improve healthcare for everyone in Israel.
In January 2021, the ministry worked with a company called Pfizer. They shared information about Israeli citizens' health records. This was done to study how well a certain vaccine worked and if it was safe.
