Early Life and School
Mirjam Mous was born in a town called Oosterhout in the Netherlands. She grew up in another Dutch town named Made. Her father was an artist who painted pictures.
Becoming a Teacher
Mirjam went to a special school in Breda called Pedagogische academie St. Frans. There, she studied to become a teacher. She learned how to teach children who needed extra help in their learning.
Becoming a Writer
Before she became a full-time author, Mirjam Mous worked as a special education teacher. She taught at a school called De Berkenhof in Breda for 20 years. She loved helping her students, but she also had a big dream of writing stories.
First Books Published
In 1998, Mirjam's first book came out. It was called Monsters mollen!. This means "Monsters are demolishing!" in Dutch. Soon after, she released another book titled De juf is een heks, which means "The teacher is a witch."
Writing While Teaching
Even while she was still teaching, Mirjam wrote many books. Some of her early works include Goed Fout! (Good Wrong!) and Ouders te Koop (Parents for Sale). In 2004, she published a book called Doorgeschoten. This story was inspired by a real-life event.
Full-Time Author
In 2005, Mirjam Mous decided to become a writer all the time. She stopped teaching to focus completely on her books. Since then, she has written many more stories. She also started two popular book series: De strandtent (The Beach Tent) and Maffe Meiden (Crazy Girls).
Boy 7 and Movies
One of Mirjam's most famous books is Boy 7, which she published in 2009. This book became so popular that it was made into a movie in the Netherlands in 2015. A German movie version of Boy 7 was also filmed. This shows how much people loved her thrilling story!
