A Look Back: Missler's History
How Missler Started
Missler wasn't always called Missler! When it first began, it was known as Jasper. People decided to create this community in May 1888. They "laid out" and "platted" the area, which means they carefully planned and drew maps of where streets, lots, and buildings would go.
The Post Office Story
A post office is a very important place for any community, helping people send and receive letters. A post office was opened in Jasper in April 1888, just before the community was officially planned.
Years later, in 1912, the post office changed its name from Jasper to Missler. It continued to serve the community for many years. However, in 1933, the Missler post office closed its doors for good.
