Mitch Colvin was born in 1973 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is an American businessman and politician. Since December 2017, he has been the Mayor of Fayetteville. As Mayor, he is the main leader of the city government.
Mr. Colvin is a member of the Democratic Party. Before becoming Mayor, he served on the Fayetteville City Council. He was a council member for two terms, from 2013 to 2017. The City Council helps make important decisions for the city.

Mitch Colvin's Early Career
Before becoming Mayor, Mitch Colvin was very active in his community. He served on the Fayetteville City Council. This council helps manage the city and make local laws. He was on the council for two terms, which means eight years.
Helping the City Council
While on the City Council, Mr. Colvin was also the "mayor pro tem." This means he could act as Mayor if the main Mayor was away. He also led the Baseball Committee. This committee worked to bring a new baseball team to downtown Fayetteville.
Bringing Baseball to Fayetteville
The Baseball Committee helped bring a minor league baseball team to the city. This team is connected to the Houston Astros, a major league team. The new team became known as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. They play their games in Fayetteville.
Serving North Carolina
In May 2017, the Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, chose Mitch Colvin for a special job. He was appointed to the Governor's Crime Commission. This group works to improve public safety in North Carolina. Mr. Colvin started his work with the Commission in June 2017.

Running Unopposed in 2019
In the November 2019 election, Mr. Colvin was the only candidate. He received 95% of the votes. This showed strong support from the community.
