Mitch Colvin (born in 1973) is an American businessman and politician. He is currently the Mayor of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He started his role as mayor in December 2017.

Colvin is a member of the Democratic Party. Before becoming mayor, he served on the Fayetteville City Council. He was a council member for two terms, from 2013 to 2017.

Mitch Colvin's Journey in Politics

Serving on the City Council

Mitch Colvin gained experience in local government. He was a part of the Fayetteville City Council. He served on the council for four years. This was from 2013 until 2017. During his time on the council, he also held the position of mayor pro tem. This means he could act as mayor if the mayor was not available.

Bringing Baseball to Fayetteville

Mayor Colvin helped bring a minor league baseball team to downtown Fayetteville. He was the leader of the Baseball Committee. This committee worked to make a deal happen. The deal brought a team connected to the Houston Astros. This team became known as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.

Working with the Governor

In May 2017, the North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper, chose Mitch Colvin for an important role. Governor Cooper appointed him to the Governor's Crime Commission. Colvin began his work with the Commission in June 2017. This commission helps to improve public safety.

Becoming Mayor

In July 2017, Mitch Colvin decided to run for Mayor of Fayetteville. He was one of the candidates in the primary election. In October 2017, he received the most votes. He got 45% of all the votes.

In November 2017, he ran against the current mayor, Nat Robertson. Robertson was a Republican. Colvin won the election. He received 59% of the votes. This made him the new Mayor of Fayetteville.

Re-election as Mayor

Mitch Colvin has been re-elected as mayor several times. In the November 2019 election, he was the only candidate. He won with 95% of the votes. He also won re-election in 2022. In that election, he received 62% of the votes.
