Mitsuru Komaeda (古前田 充, Komaeda Mitsuru, born April 14, 1950) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was born in Iwate Prefecture and became a well-known forward and midfielder. Komaeda also played for the Japan national team. After his playing days, he became a successful football manager.

Mitsuru Komaeda's Playing Career
Playing for Club Teams
Mitsuru Komaeda started his professional football journey in 1973. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Commerce, he joined a club called Towa Real Estate. This club later changed its name to Fujita Industries.
Komaeda played as a forward and midfielder for Fujita Industries. He helped his team win the Japan Soccer League championship three times: in 1977, 1979, and 1981. His team also won the Emperor's Cup, a major football tournament, twice in 1977 and 1979.
He played a total of 178 games in the league, scoring 18 goals. Komaeda was recognized as one of the best players, being chosen for the "Best Eleven" team five times. He retired from playing football in 1982.
Playing for Japan's National Team
Mitsuru Komaeda also had the honor of playing for the Japan national football team. His first game for Japan was on August 10, 1976, against Indonesia. In that game, he scored two goals! He also played for Japan in 1977. In total, he played 2 games for Japan and scored 2 goals.
Mitsuru Komaeda's Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Komaeda began a new career as a coach. He started coaching at his former club, Fujita Industries, which was later known as Bellmare Hiratsuka.
Becoming a Manager
In 1990, Mitsuru Komaeda became the manager of Bellmare Hiratsuka. He took over from the previous manager, Yoshinobu Ishii. In 1993, he led the club to win the Japan Football League. This victory meant the club was promoted to the J1 League, which is the top professional football league in Japan. He continued to manage the club until 1995.
In August 1999, Komaeda returned to manage Bellmare Hiratsuka again. However, this time the club had a tough season. They finished in last place and were moved down to the J2 League. He then resigned as manager in 1999 and left the club in 2000.
Later Coaching Roles
In 2001, Komaeda moved to a club called YKK to work as a coach. By 2003, he became the manager of YKK.
