Mona Wessman is a Swedish singer. She was born on March 24, 1948, in a place called Nora Parish in Sweden. She became well-known for her music in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Becoming a Star
Mona Wessman first became famous in 1967. This happened when she appeared on a TV show called Minishow. She was on the show with two other singers, Nina Lizell and Claes-Göran Hederström.
Her big break in music came with her song Gå och göm dej, Åke Tråk. This song was part of the Melodifestivalen 1968 contest. She finished in third place in the competition. The song also became a hit on the Svensktoppen music chart, reaching third place there too.
Touring and More Hits
In 1968, Mona toured around Sweden. She performed in many "folkparks," which are outdoor venues. She toured with Nina Lizell and Claes-Göran Hederström.
Another one of her popular songs was Hambostinta i kortkort. This song was written by Sven Lindahl.
Later in 1968, she went on another tour. This time, she performed with Lenne Broberg and Claes-Göran Hederström. They were joined by a band called Hipp Happy Band. The band members were Mats Westman, Lasse Sandborg, Stefan Möller, and Bertil Bodahl.
Later Career
Mona Wessman had several more hit songs on the Svensktoppen chart in the late 1960s. She also appeared in a movie in 1968. The film was called Åsa-Nisse och den stora kalabaliken.
She also took part in Melodifestivalen again in 1973. The song she sang was Helledudane en sån karl. It was a fun song, but it finished in last place that year.
