Biography

Monique Mayère was born in 1944. She is one of eight children and has a twin brother named Henri. In the 1960s, she worked as a nurse. She is also a cousin of Philippe Bourguignon and Anne Mayère.

Monique married Jean-Claude Rodet and they had three children: Emmanuel (born 1968), Daniel (born 1969), and Bruno (born 1971). In 1974, Monique helped start a special community called "Le Soly" in Thurins. Later, she worked for a company that designed and built chimneys in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne.

On April 11, 1987, Monique married Charles Uhl. After that, she started her own company in Peymeinade. She also opened an art gallery in Nice called Chantepierre. Monique created sculptures and objects using many different materials. These included wood, stone, plexiglass, resin, and metals like bronze, iron, or gold.

She also made art using techniques like woodcut and lithography. These are ways of printing images from carved wood or stone. She even sculpted on PVC plastic for handmade prints.

In the years that followed, Monique traveled a lot. She sailed around the Mediterranean Sea on her boat named Iris. During her travels, she wrote about her experiences and painted. In 2007, she was rescued from a shipwreck near Eritrea. In 2009, she gave her lithographic printing press to an art school in Grasse.

Monique is also an active supporter of groups that help communities. She is involved with a CSA group on the French Riviera. This group connects people directly with local farms. She is also close to WWOOF, which helps people volunteer on organic farms around the world.
