Monster Fun was a super fun weekly comic magazine from Britain. It was made for kids aged about seven to twelve. The comic was published by IPC Media. It ran for 73 issues between 1975 and 1976.
After its run, Monster Fun joined up with another popular comic called Buster. The magazine was famous for its funny monster stories and characters. It also had cool mini-comics inside, known as "The Bad Time Bedtime Books." These were created by the artist Leo Baxendale.
The comic's editor was a character named "Frankie Stein." This name was a playful nod to the famous monster, Frankenstein. Frankie Stein had appeared in other comics before, like Wham! and Whoopee!. Some of the talented artists who worked on Monster Fun included Robert Nixon, Tom Williams, and Trevor Metcalfe.
Awesome Free Gifts
Monster Fun was well-known for giving away cool free toys with its issues. Kids loved getting these surprises!
For example, the very first issue came with a "plate wobbler." This was a fun toy that looked like a small, inflatable rubber bag. You would place it under a plate, then pump it up with a hand pump. This made the plate wobble around, which was pretty silly and fun!
The second issue had a "Freaky Spider Ring" for kids to wear. The third issue gave away a "Super Shaking Skeleton." These free gifts made collecting the comic even more exciting for young readers.
