Montelíbano is a town and municipality located in the Córdoba Department of Colombia. It is a place where many people live and work. The town was founded in 1907.
One of the most important things about Montelíbano is that it has a very large mine. This mine is called the Cerro Matoso mine. It is one of the biggest mines in the world for a special metal called ferronickel. The company Cerro Matoso S.A. runs both the mine and the factory where the metal is processed.
In 2020, about 90,450 people lived in Montelíbano. This means there were about 58 people living in each square kilometer of the area.
