Moody is a small, unincorporated community located in the southwestern part of Howell County, Missouri, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's not a city with its own local government, but rather a close-knit area where people live. You can find Moody about 16 miles south of a larger town called West Plains. It's situated just north of Route 142, right on Route E.

Where is Moody Located?

Moody is nestled in a scenic part of Missouri. The Bennetts River flows right past the western side of the community, adding to its natural beauty. If you travel about 1.5 miles south from Moody, you'll reach the state line between Missouri and Arkansas. This location makes Moody a quiet spot, surrounded by nature and close to another state.

A Glimpse into Moody's History

The community of Moody has a history stretching back many years. A post office was first opened in Moody in 1880, which means people have been sending and receiving mail there for over 140 years! The area was named after an early pioneer citizen. This same person also gave their name to Moody Creek, a small stream located just north of where the community stands today.
