Mooliabeenee's Railway History

A railway station named Mooliabeenie is located nearby. This station is part of a railway line that connects Millendon Junction (near Midland) to Dongara. Today, a company called Arc Infrastructure manages this railway line.

The Mooliabeenie station was first built in 1894. It was originally part of the Midland Railway. This railway was important for transporting goods and people across the region.

The Old Airstrip and Its New Use

Close to Mooliabeenee, there is a long airstrip that is no longer used. It is about 1,500 meters (or 1.5 kilometers) long. This airstrip was used by the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. It was connected to another airfield called Caversham Airfield, located at Middle Swan.

After the war, the Mooliabeenee Airfield, like the Caversham Airfield, found a new purpose. It was turned into a track for motor racing. Today, local car clubs still use this site regularly. They hold special car events there called motorkhana. In motorkhana, drivers test their skills by navigating through a course marked by cones.
