Moraida was officially recognized as a census designated place for the first time in the 2010 U.S. Census. It was formed along with several other CDPs, like Escobar I, JF Villarreal, Loma Vista, Pena, and Rivera. These areas were all created from parts of North Escobares that were not made part of the city of Escobares.
