Morazán is one of the 14 departments (like a state or province) in the country of El Salvador. It is located in the eastern part of El Salvador. The capital city of Morazán is San Francisco Gotera.
Morazán was officially created as a department in 1875. It is named after Francisco Morazán, an important leader in Central American history.
