Morgan Patrick Crowe (born March 5, 1907, died April 8, 1993) was a talented Irish rugby player. He played as a "centre," which is a key attacking and defending position in rugby union. He represented the Irish national team 13 times between 1929 and 1934. He also played for famous clubs like the Leicester Tigers and Lansdowne Football Club.

Early Rugby Days

Morgan Crowe first played for Ireland on March 9, 1929. This big game was against Wales, and it ended in a 5-5 tie at Ravenhill Stadium.

He also played for his hospital team, Richmond Hospital, in a special rugby tournament called the Dublin Hospitals Rugby Cup. In 1930, something unfortunate happened. During the final match, he broke his collarbone. This injury meant he couldn't go on a big tour to New Zealand with the British & Irish Lions team, even though he had been chosen!

Playing for Leicester Tigers

Morgan Crowe was a doctor by profession. His work took him to the Leicester Royal Infirmary in England. While there, he joined the famous Leicester Tigers rugby club.

He played his first game for the Tigers on October 1, 1932, against Coventry at Welford Road Stadium. In his first season, Crowe played 25 games for the club. His great playing earned him a spot back on the Irish national team for the 1933 Home Nations Championship. He played against Wales and Scotland in that championship.

During the 1933-34 season, Crowe became the main player for kicking goals for Leicester. He was the club's top scorer that season, getting 87 points in 30 games. His last game for Leicester was on April 23, 1935, against Exeter.

Other Sports

Besides rugby, Morgan Crowe also briefly played association football (soccer). He played for UCD in the Leinster Senior League.
