The Morris Levenson Three-Decker is a special old house in Worcester, Massachusetts. It's called a 'three-decker' because it has three floors, with one apartment on each floor. This house was built around 1920 and shows off a cool building style called Colonial Revival. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, which means it's an important historical building.

What is a Three-Decker House?

A three-decker is a type of house that is very common in some parts of the United States, especially in New England. It has three separate apartments, one on each floor. These houses were popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They helped house many people moving to cities for work.

About the Morris Levenson House

The Morris Levenson Three-Decker is located in a neighborhood in southeastern Worcester. It is a three-story building made of wood. The roof is shaped like a hip, which means it slopes down on all four sides.

Cool Features of the House

The front of the house is interesting because it's not perfectly even. On the left side, there are three porches stacked one above the other. On the right side, there's a window area that sticks out with many sides, like a polygon.

The porches have many thin columns that hold them up. These columns are spaced out to create arch shapes on the upper floors. The porch on the ground floor goes all the way across the front of the house. It even extends further to the right, ending in a cool eight-sided section.

Some of the original fancy details, like decorative blocks under the roof and railings on the porches, have changed over time. This happened when new siding was put on the house.

History of the House

This house was built around 1920. At that time, more and more three-decker houses were being built further away from the center of Worcester. This helped the city grow and provide homes for more families.

The first known owner of the house was Morris Levenson. He was a merchant who sold clothes. Later, a chef named Felix Shimkus owned the house.
