Most Beloved Sister (which in Swedish is Allrakäraste syster) is a wonderful children's book written by the famous Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. It first came out in 1949 as part of a collection of stories called Nils Karlsson-Pyssling: sagor. Later, in 1973, it was released as its own book, with beautiful pictures drawn by Hans Arnold.

Story Overview
This enchanting story is about a seven-year-old girl named Barbro. She has a special secret: a twin sister named Ylva-li. Ylva-li is the only person who truly loves Barbro more than anything. She always calls Barbro her "Most Beloved Sister."
The Golden Hall
Ylva-li lives in a magical place called the golden hall. You can reach this secret hall by crawling down a hidden hole. This hole is found right under a rose bush named Salikon.
Adventures with Ylva-li
Barbro and Ylva-li share many exciting adventures together. They ride horses and explore their magical world. Their time together is filled with joy and wonder.
A Sad Farewell
When it's time for Barbro to go back to her parents, Ylva-li tells her something sad. She explains that their magical world will disappear when the roses on the Salikon bush wither away. Barbro finds this hard to believe.
The End of the Magic
Barbro returns home, and her parents act as if they missed her. The very next day, all the roses on the Salikon bush are dead. The secret hole under the bush is also gone. This means the magical world of Ylva-li has vanished.
