Mount Airy is a small place in Randolph County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

History of Mount Airy

Mount Airy has had a few different names over the years, including "Mountairy" and "Uptonsville." The name "Mount Airy" was chosen because the community is located on high ground. It sits about 740 feet (230 meters) above sea level, which is quite high!

A post office was opened in Mount Airy way back in 1831. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1902.
