Mount Burrill is situated in the Victory Mountains. It sits on the eastern edge of a high area called the Malta Plateau. You can find it about 7 kilometers (4 miles) south of another mountain, Mount Hussey. It's also at the very top of the Hand Glacier.

Who Was Mount Burrill Named After?

This mountain was named by the New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee. They chose to honor Dr. Meredith F. Burrill. He was an important person who worked for the United States Board on Geographic Names from 1943 to 1973.

Dr. Burrill was the Executive Secretary of this board. He played a big role in creating rules for naming places in Antarctica.
