Mount Larsen (South Sandwich Islands) facts for kids
Mount Larsen is a mountain that stands about 710 meters (2,330 feet) tall. You can find it on Thule Island, which is part of the South Sandwich Islands. This mountain is located in the east-central part of the island.
How Mount Larsen Got Its Name
Mount Larsen was explored and mapped in 1930. This was done by a group of people from the Discovery Investigations. They were on a ship called the Discovery II. They decided to name the mountain after Captain C.A. Larsen, who was an important figure in Antarctic exploration.
