Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast (formerly known as Mr. Freeze) is a super-fast steel roller coaster. It's called a "launched shuttle" coaster because it shoots you forward and then sends you backward on the same track! You can find this exciting ride at two different Six Flags parks: Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St. Louis.

About the Ride

Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast is a unique type of roller coaster. Instead of climbing a tall hill, it uses powerful magnets called Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) to launch the train. This means you go from a complete stop to a very high speed in just a few seconds!

How it Works

When you ride Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast, you'll experience an amazing launch. The train accelerates from 0 to 70 miles per hour (113 km/h) in only 3.8 seconds! After the launch, the train races up a tall tower, reaching a height of 218 feet (66 m).

At the top, the track curves into a "top hat" inversion, which means you go upside down and then right side up again. After this, the train goes into a "spike" that points straight up. For a moment, you'll feel like you're going to fly off the end!

The Reverse Blast

The most exciting part is the "Reverse Blast." Instead of continuing on a loop, the train falls backward down the spike. It then travels backward through the entire ride, including the top hat inversion, before returning to the station. This means you experience the thrill of the ride twice, once forward and once backward!

Ride Design and History

This roller coaster was designed by Werner Stengel, a famous roller coaster designer. It was built by Premier Rides and first opened in 1998. The ride was originally named "Mr. Freeze," based on the villain from the Batman comics. In 2012, the ride was updated and renamed "Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast" to highlight its unique backward journey.
