Premier Rides is a company in the United States that makes exciting rides for amusement parks. They are famous for building roller coasters and other fun attractions. Premier Rides was the first company to use a special technology called Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) to launch their roller coasters super fast! Jim Seay has been the owner and president of the company since 1996.
The very first roller coaster built by Premier Rides was called Runaway Mountain. It opened on June 12, 1996, at Six Flags Over Texas.
Building Awesome Rides
Premier Rides builds many different types of rides. They are well-known for their thrilling roller coasters. They also create family attractions, water rides, and tall observation wheels or towers.
How Roller Coasters Get Their Speed
Premier Rides was a pioneer in using Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) for roller coasters. Imagine a powerful magnet that can push or pull things without touching them. That's a bit like how LIMs work! They use electricity to create strong magnetic forces. These forces can quickly launch a roller coaster train from a standstill to a very high speed in just a few seconds. This technology makes for a super exciting start to the ride!
Roller Coasters Around the World
As of 2019, Premier Rides has built 36 roller coasters in many different countries. Some of their famous roller coasters include:
- Mr. Freeze at Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St. Louis. These rides launch you forward and backward!
- Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. These coasters combine thrilling drops and launches with special effects.
- Full Throttle at Six Flags Magic Mountain. This ride has a huge loop and launches riders three times.
- Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando. This coaster launches riders forward and backward multiple times.
Premier Rides has also helped with other big projects. For example, they were involved with the High Roller steel roller coaster in Las Vegas.
