How It All Started

The first Mr & Mrs T mix was for a drink called Bloody Mary. It was created by Herb and June Taylor in 1960. The Taylors were already in the sauce business. They wanted to make sure drinks tasted the same every time. So, they developed their special mix.

Growing Popularity

At first, bars and restaurants in the Los Angeles metropolitan area used their mixes. Then, something big happened. An executive from American Airlines tried the mix. They liked it so much that American Airlines started using Mr & Mrs T mixes on their flights. Soon, other airlines also began to use these popular mixes.

Changes in Ownership

The Taylor Food Products company was sold in 1965. Later, in 1987, the Mr & Mrs T brand became part of Mott's. Mott's was a division of a company called Cadbury-Schweppes plc at that time. By 1997, Mr & Mrs T was very successful. It controlled 62 percent of the market for Bloody Mary mixes. This means most people buying these mixes chose Mr & Mrs T.
