Discovering Musica Nova
Musica Nova is a festival all about new and modern classical music. It's a chance for people to hear fresh sounds and see talented musicians perform. The festival brings together composers, musicians, and music lovers from all over.
How it Started
The festival began a long time ago, in 1961. Back then, it was called Musica Viva. A famous conductor named Alexander Gibson helped create it. He worked with Robin Orr, who was a music professor at Glasgow University.
Later, the festival changed its name to Musica Nova. Alexander Gibson worked with a new professor, Frederick Rimmer, to make it the triennial festival we know today. "Triennial" means it happens every three years. This makes each festival a really special event to look forward to!
