Kids Encyclopedia Facts

NBL is a short way to say "National Basketball League." It usually refers to a professional sports league where teams play basketball against each other. But NBL can also stand for other things, like different companies or organizations.

National Basketball Leagues

Many countries around the world have a National Basketball League, often called NBL for short. These leagues are where the best basketball players in a country compete for a championship.

Basketball in Australasia

The National Basketball League (Australasia) is the top professional men's basketball league in Australia and New Zealand. It's a very exciting league where teams from both countries play to see who is the champion. Many talented players from around the world come to play in this league.

Basketball in Canada

Canada also has its own professional league called the National Basketball League of Canada. This league features teams from across Canada, giving Canadian players a chance to play professionally in their home country. There was also an older Canadian NBL from 1993-1994, but it doesn't exist anymore.

Basketball in China

In China, the National Basketball League (China) is a semi-professional league. This means it's a step below the very top professional league, but it's still a place where many skilled players compete.
