About Najat El Hachmi
Early Life and Education
Najat El Hachmi was born in a place called Beni Sidel in Morocco. When she was 8 years old, she moved with her family to Catalonia, Spain. She later studied Arabic literature at the University of Barcelona. In 2006, she became a Spanish citizen. Today, she lives in a town called Granollers.
Najat started writing when she was just twelve years old. At first, it was just for fun. But later, writing became a way for her to share her thoughts and feelings. It also helped her explore what it was like to belong to two different cultures.
Her Writing Journey
Najat's first book, Jo també sóc catalana (which means I am also Catalan), came out in 2004. This book was about her own life and how she felt connected to her new home in Catalonia.
In 2007, Najat traveled to Germany for the Frankfurt Book Fair. This big event celebrates books and culture. She shared her ideas about modern Catalan literature with people there. Najat has also appeared often on radio shows and in newspapers.
