Najm ad-Din Ayyub facts for kids
Najm ad-Din Ayyub (Arabic: نجم الدين أيوب) was an important Kurdish soldier and leader who lived a long time ago. He passed away on August 9, 1173. He came from a city called Dvin, which was a capital city in early medieval Armenia.
Najm ad-Din Ayyub is most famous for being the father of Saladin (also known as Salah ad-Din). Saladin became one of the most well-known leaders in history. The powerful Ayyubid dynasty was named after Najm ad-Din Ayyub, as he was the ancestor who started this famous family.
