Nakia Davis-Welsh was born on May 22, 1996. She is an Australian rugby league player. She mainly plays as a fullback, which is a key defensive and attacking position. Nakia has played for Australia, as part of the Jillaroos team, and for her home state, New South Wales. Currently, she plays for the Parramatta Eels in the NRLW competition.

Early Life and Family Connections
Nakia was born in Kempsey, New South Wales. Her dad, Paul Davis, used to be a rugby league player for the Balmain Tigers. She is also the cousin of famous rugby league star Greg Inglis, who played for Australia and Queensland. Nakia went to Hunter Sports High. She only started playing organised rugby league in 2012, which means she quickly became very good at the sport!
Playing Career Highlights
Starting Strong: Indigenous All Stars and State Debut
In 2013, when Nakia was just 16 years old, she was chosen to play for the Indigenous All Stars team. This is a special game played every year.
In 2016, she made her first appearance for New South Wales. She played in the annual Women's Interstate Challenge against Queensland.
Club Success and International Debut
In 2017, Nakia played as a fullback for the Redfern All Blacks team. They won the NSW Women's Premiership Grand Final against North Newcastle. Nakia was amazing that season, scoring more tries than anyone else in the competition!
Later in 2017, she was picked to join the Australian team for the 2017 Women's Rugby League World Cup. This was a huge step for her! She played her first international game in Australia's win against the Cook Islands.
World Cup Victory
On December 2, 2017, Nakia started as the fullback in the World Cup final. The Jillaroos won the game 23-16 against New Zealand. She played four games during the tournament and scored three tries, helping her team win the World Cup!
NRLW and Future Plans
In June 2018, Nakia Davis-Welsh was one of the first 15 players signed by the Sydney Roosters women's team. This team was part of the very first NRL Women's Premiership in September 2018. However, she did not play any games that season because she found out she was pregnant.
