Long ago, Nashville was sometimes called Darke. This name came from the county it's in, Darke County. It even had a post office named Darke. This post office opened in 1849 and stayed open until 1903. Besides the post office, Nashville also had a church and a country store. These places were important for the people living there, serving as central spots for community life and getting supplies.
