Natacha is a super fun children's book that first came out in 1998. It's the very first book in a whole series about a curious girl named Natacha! The book was written by Luis Pescetti, a famous writer and musician from Argentina who loves creating stories and songs for kids. Guess what? This book was even turned into a play by Barbara Raimondi!
Contents
Meet Natacha and Her World
Natacha is a girl who loves to ask questions about everything! Her best friend is Pati, and together they call themselves "The Pearl Girls." Natacha also has a dog named Rafles, who can be a bit of a troublemaker.
Natacha's Adventures and Questions
Natacha's curiosity is huge, and she asks so many questions that sometimes her parents and other grown-ups get a little overwhelmed. They often have to take a deep breath and count to ten to calm down!
In one part of the book, Natacha tries to help make a chocolate cake. But instead of using chocolate, she accidentally uses mud! Can you imagine the mess?
Another time, she goes to watch a movie with her mom. She asks so many questions during the film that her mom can't even follow the story! Natacha also tries to write a poem, but she needs her mom's help with all the tricky spelling. Her mom also tells her cool stories about monsters that might appear at night. And of course, her dog Rafles always seems to find himself in funny, messy situations.
About the Book and Its Creator
Natacha is a very special book because it was adapted into a play. Another one of Luis Pescetti's books, El ciudadano de mis zapatos, was also turned into a play.
From Book to Stage
The Argentine director Barbara Raimondi did a great job turning the Natacha book into a play. She kept most of the story the same. However, she made one small change: Natacha's best friend, Pati (whose full name is Patricia), became Patri (Patrick) in the play. She also added some new stories to connect the different parts of the book together for the stage.
Where Did Natacha Come From?
Luis Pescetti, the author, got the idea for Natacha's name from a real student he taught. He used to teach music to young kids in preschool and elementary school. This student was just as curious and asked as many questions as the character Natacha!
Many of the other characters and funny situations in the book came from Luis Pescetti's own childhood memories. He even used a phrase he said as a kid, "I'm going somewhere to do something..." He later used this phrase in his songs and on his radio show, Hola Luis.
Natacha Around the World
Did you know that Natacha is the only book by Luis Pescetti that has been translated into Catalan? Catalan is a language spoken in Spain. The Catalan version of the book is called La Nataixa.
Celebrating Natacha
In July 2007, people celebrated the tenth birthday of the first Natacha book! To mark this special occasion, Luis Pescetti and the book's publisher organized a series of concerts called "Useless to Insist." The posters for these concerts proudly announced "10 years of Natacha" and featured Natacha's famous pigtails and bangs.
