The National Australia Bank building in Dubbo, New South Wales, is a special old building. It's located at 110-114 Macquarie Street. History of the Bank Building
The National Australia Bank building was built around 1906 to 1907. It was designed by Laurie and Heath for the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Ltd., also known as the CBC Bank.
In 1979, the local council in Dubbo wanted to knock down the CBC Bank building. They planned to build something new in its place. However, the Heritage Council of New South Wales stepped in. They are a group that helps protect important old places.
After looking at the building, the Heritage Council decided it was special. They put an "Interim Conservation Order" on it in May 1979. This was a temporary rule to stop the building from being demolished. The bank then worked with the Heritage Office to fix up and improve the building. This work helped show how important the building was to Dubbo.
Later, in September 1981, a "Permanent Conservation Order" was placed on the property. This made its protection official and lasting. In April 1999, the building was moved to the State Heritage Register. This is a list of the most important heritage sites in New South Wales.
What Does the Building Look Like?
The CBC Bank building was built in the Edwardian style. This was a popular building style around the early 1900s.
The front of the building, called the facade, is very grand. It has a low, pyramid-shaped roof in the middle. This part is called a turret. On both sides of the turret, there are wings with arches and verandas. This design makes the building look very impressive on Macquarie Street.

In 1980, some changes were made inside the bank building. Also, two palm trees that were outside the building were removed.
