Berwick Armory

The Berwick Armory is a strong, old building located at 201 Pine Street in Berwick. It was built a long time ago, in 1991, and has been an important part of the town's history ever since.

Bloomsburg Historic District

Imagine a whole part of a town that's historic! That's the Bloomsburg Historic District. It's a big area in Bloomsburg with many old buildings, including the town hall. This district was added to the list in 1983 because it shows what the town looked like a long time ago.

Catawissa Friends Meetinghouse

The Catawissa Friends Meetinghouse is a special place where people called Quakers used to meet. It's located at South and 3rd Streets in Catawissa. This meetinghouse has been around since 1978 and is a peaceful spot with a lot of history.

Jackson Mansion and Carriage House

The Jackson Mansion and Carriage House is a beautiful old home at 344 Market Street in Berwick. It's like stepping back in time to see how people lived many years ago. This grand mansion was added to the historic list in 1985.

Amazing Covered Bridges

Columbia County is famous for its many covered bridges! These wooden bridges have roofs to protect them from the weather, which helped them last a long time. Many of them were added to the National Register in 1979.

  • Bridge in Fishing Creek Township: This bridge crosses Little Pine Creek, east of Bendertown. It's a cool old bridge that was listed in 1988.

  • Jud Christie Covered Bridge No. 95: Found northeast of Millville, this bridge connects Jackson and Pine Townships. It's a great example of an old covered bridge.

  • Creasyville Covered Bridge: Also northeast of Millville, this bridge is another beautiful connection between Jackson and Pine Townships.

  • Davis Covered Bridge: Located south of Catawissa in Cleveland Township, this bridge is a classic example of the covered bridges in the area.

  • Sam Eckman Covered Bridge No. 92: This bridge is northeast of Millville, connecting Greenwood and Pine Townships. It's a well-preserved piece of history.

  • Fowlersville Covered Bridge: This bridge has an interesting story! It was originally south of Fowlersville but was moved in 1986 to Briar Creek Park in North Centre Township, so more people could enjoy it.

  • Furnace Covered Bridge No. 11: You can find this bridge in Cleveland Township. It's another one of the many historic covered bridges in the county.

  • Josiah Hess Covered Bridge No. 122: East of Forks in Fishing Creek Township, this bridge is a charming part of the local landscape.

  • Hollingshead Covered Bridge No. 40: East of Catawissa in Catawissa Township, this bridge has stood for many years, showing off its unique design.

  • Johnson Covered Bridge No. 28: South of Catawissa in Cleveland Township, this bridge is another example of the beautiful covered bridges in the area.

  • Lawrence L. Knoebel Covered Bridge: This bridge is special because it's located at Knoebel's Grove, a popular amusement park! It also stretches into Northumberland County.

  • Kramer Covered Bridge No. 113: Southwest of Rohrsburg in Greenwood Township, this bridge was completely rebuilt in 2007, keeping its historic look.

  • Richards Covered Bridge: East of Elysburg in Cleveland Township, this bridge also reaches into Northumberland County.

  • Riegel Covered Bridge No. 6: Sadly, this bridge, southwest of Catawissa, was destroyed by a fire in 1979. Even though it's gone, it's still remembered as a historic place.
  • Rohrbach Covered Bridge No. 24: Southwest of Catawissa, this bridge was taken apart in 1986, and its pieces are now stored at Knoebels Amusement Resort.

  • Twin Bridges-East Paden Covered Bridge No. 120: East of Forks in Fishing Creek Township, this is one of two "twin" bridges.

  • Twin Bridges-West Paden Covered Bridge No. 121: This is the other "twin" bridge, also east of Forks. It was destroyed by a flood in 2006 but was rebuilt to look exactly the same in 2008!

  • Wagner Covered Bridge No. 19: This bridge was taken apart in 1981 and stored at Knoebels Amusement Resort. Later, in 1994, it was rebuilt at the entrance to a neighborhood in Hemlock Township!

  • Wanich Covered Bridge No. 69: North of Fernville, this bridge connects Hemlock and Mount Pleasant Townships.

  • Y Covered Bridge No. 156: Southeast of Central in Sugarloaf Township, this bridge was sadly destroyed by a fire in 1983.

A Bridge That Was Once Listed

Sometimes, a historic place might be removed from the list if it's no longer there or has changed too much.

  • Welle Hess Covered Bridge No. S1: This bridge, south of Grassmere Park, was once on the list. However, it collapsed in 1981 and was removed from the National Register in 1986.
