The Cartecay Methodist Church and its cemetery are located near Ellijay, Georgia. This church is a very old building, first built in 1859. It's a great example of the kind of churches people built in Georgia a long time ago. The church and its cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 19, 2001. It's a peaceful spot that shows a piece of Gilmer County's past.

Gilmer County Courthouse

The Gilmer County Courthouse was once a very important building in Ellijay, Georgia. Courthouses are where local government decisions are made and where legal cases happen. This particular courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1980. Sadly, this historic building was taken down in 2008. Even though it's no longer standing, it was recognized for its historical importance to the county.
