Mahned Bridge

The Mahned Bridge is a really old bridge that crosses the Leaf River on Mahned Road. It was built way back in 1903. Imagine how many cars and people crossed it over the years!

This bridge has a special design called a "camelback truss." This means its top part looks a bit like a camel's hump, which makes it very strong. Even though it's not used for cars anymore since the 1980s, it's still an important part of Perry County's history. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Old Augusta Historic Site

The Old Augusta Historic Site is a very special place along the Leaf River, just north of New Augusta. This site is where the original town of Augusta used to be.

The town of Augusta was started in 1812. It was an important place for people living in the area for many years. However, around 1902 to 1906, the town was moved to its current location, which is now New Augusta. The old site was then left behind.

Today, the Old Augusta Historic Site helps us remember what life was like in the early days of Perry County. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
