The Navarro Family's Antarctic Support

The Navarro family played a big role in helping scientists and researchers in Antarctica between 1989 and 2008. They worked at several key research stations, including McMurdo, South Pole, and Palmer Station.

Key Family Members and Their Contributions

  • Kenneth Navarro was a logistics supervisor at Palmer Station. He spent many summers and winters helping to organize supplies and operations at all three stations.
  • Carol Gould Navarro, Kenneth's wife, also worked in logistics and administration at Palmer and McMurdo stations.
  • Suzanne McCullough Navarro, Kenneth's sister, worked as a cook at McMurdo Station, making sure everyone had food.
  • Steven Navarro, Kenneth's brother, was a carpenter at Palmer and McMurdo, helping to build and repair things.
  • Kenneth and Carol's sons, Eliot Gould and Tyler Gould, also spent some seasons working in Antarctica.

The Navarro family's dedication helped keep the important scientific research in Antarctica running smoothly for many years. Naming the ridge after them is a way to recognize their valuable support for exploration and science in this icy continent.
