Neapolitans (chocolate) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Neapolitans are small, flat pieces of chocolate. They are usually square or rectangular. Each one comes in its own wrapper. These chocolates come in many different tastes and are made by lots of candy companies. You might see them served in hotels or coffee shops, often with a cup of coffee. Sometimes, companies use them to promote their brand, with their logo on the wrapper.

Terry's Chocolate Neapolitans

A company called Terry's first made Neapolitans in 1899. Terry's was based in York, England. In 1993, a bigger company named Kraft Foods bought Terry's.

Sadly, Terry's stopped making Neapolitans in 2005. This happened when their chocolate factory in York closed down.

Terry's Neapolitans came in several yummy flavours:

  • Milk Chocolate (blue wrapper)
  • Plain Chocolate (red wrapper)
  • Mocha (plain chocolate with coffee flavour, brown wrapper)
  • Cafe Au Lait (milk chocolate with coffee flavour, turquoise wrapper)
  • Orange Milk Chocolate (orange wrapper)
  • Orange Plain Chocolate (pink wrapper)

Terry's also made Neapolitans with mint flavour. They even had some with creamy fillings! Sometimes, you could buy these chocolates in different containers, like jars.

Today, other companies still make similar mixed chocolate boxes. For example, you can find Neapolitans from Marks and Spencer. Lindt also makes a similar product called Napolitains.
