Necmettin Hacıeminoğlu (born November 10, 1932 – died June 26, 1996) was a Turkish poet, language expert, and writer. He spent his life studying and teaching the Turkish language and literature. He wrote many articles and books about these subjects.

Early Life and Learning

Necmettin Hacıeminoğlu was born in Maraş in 1932. His father, Mustafa, passed away when Necmettin was a baby. To help his family, he moved to Adana. There, he continued his primary and high school education. He became very interested in Turkish literature and the Turkish language during these years. His brother, Nihat, who loved literature, influenced him a lot.

With help from his literature teacher, Şevken Kutkan, he began writing his first journal articles. He also started studying with a famous writer named Nurullah Ataç.

University and Career

Later, Necmettin moved to Istanbul to continue his college education. He studied Turcology, which is the study of Turkish language and culture, at Istanbul University. He continued his work as a scholar and teacher at the university.

At first, he used the name Necmettin Özdarendeli for his writings. Later, he changed his last name to Hacıeminoğlu. He wrote hundreds of articles for newspapers like Hergün, Tercüman, and Ortadoğu. He also contributed to many journals such as Türk Dili, Türk Edebiyatı, Töre, Milli Kültür, and Yeni Düşünce.

Necmettin Hacıeminoğlu was known for expressing his ideas openly. He was the first university teacher to face challenges because of his thoughts.

In 1993, he moved to Edirne. He helped to create a new Turkish Language and Literature department at Trakya University. He worked there until 1993.

Necmettin Hacıeminoğlu passed away in Ankara in 1996.
