The Necropolis of Santu Pedru is an ancient burial site. It is located near the city of Alghero on the island of Sardinia, Italy. A necropolis is like a very old cemetery.
This special place has 10 tombs carved into rock. These tombs are called domus de janas, which means "fairy houses." They were used for burying people a very long time ago.

Exploring the Ancient Tombs of Santu Pedru
The Santu Pedru necropolis dates back to the pre-Nuragic period. This means it was used before the famous Nuragic civilization of Sardinia. It started around 3000 BC, which is over 5,000 years ago!
Who Used This Ancient Burial Site?
The site was used for about 1,000 years. Many different ancient cultures buried their dead here. These cultures include the Ozieri, Abealzu-Filigosa, and Monte Claro. Later, the Bell Beaker and Bonnanaro cultures also used the necropolis. Each group left behind clues about their lives.
