Nedelcho Krumov Beronov (born July 22, 1928 – died July 4, 2015) was an important person in Bulgaria. He was a legal expert, a politician, and even led the country's highest court, the Constitutional Court. He also ran for president in 2006.

Early Life and Education

Nedelcho Beronov was born in a town called Nova Zagora, Bulgaria. He loved learning about law and studied hard. In 1951, he finished his law degree at Sofia University. Later, in 1972, he also graduated from the University of National and World Economy.

Working as a Legal Expert

After his studies, Mr. Beronov worked as a legal expert for many years. From 1954 to 1991, he was an arbiter in Stara Zagora. An arbiter is like a special judge who helps solve disagreements between people or businesses without going to a regular court. He also worked as an arbiter for the Bulgarian Commercial and Industrial Chamber from 1977 to 1997.

Teaching Law

Besides his work as an arbiter, Nedelcho Beronov also taught law. Between 1993 and 1997, he was a lecturer at the Varna University of Economics and Varna Technical University. He taught about civil law and contract law, which are rules about agreements between people. He also wrote many books and articles about legal topics.

Political Career

Nedelcho Beronov was also involved in politics. In 1997, he became a member of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, which is like Bulgaria's parliament. He was part of the Union of Democratic Forces party. In the National Assembly, he worked on laws and legal issues.

Leading the Constitutional Court

Later in 1997, Mr. Beronov became a member of the Constitutional Court. This court makes sure that new laws follow the country's main rule book, the Constitution. In 2003, he was chosen by everyone on the court to become its chairman, or leader. He held this important position for several years.

Presidential Election Campaign

In 2006, Nedelcho Beronov decided to run for President of Bulgaria. He ran as an independent candidate, meaning he wasn't officially tied to one party. However, he had support from several right-wing parties, including the Union of Democratic Forces. His running mate for vice president was Yuliana Nikolova.

Election Results

In the first round of the election, Nedelcho Beronov came in third place. He received about 9.75% of all the votes. This meant he did not get enough votes to move on to the second round of the election.

Family Life

Nedelcho Beronov had a family who also achieved great things. His wife, Anna, is a professor at the Varna Medical University. His son, Kamen, is a mathematician. He earned his doctorate from Kyoto University and now teaches in Germany.
