Neville "Chappy" Williams is an important elder. He belongs to the Wiradjuri nation in Western New South Wales. He was also a professional boxer.
Many people who follow Indigenous Australian customs call him "Uncle Chappy." He often visits the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra. He is well-known for speaking out against the gold mine project at Lake Cowal. This mine was first run by Barrick Gold Corporation. In 2015, Barrick sold the mine to Evolution Mining.

A Big Win in Sydney
One of his most famous wins happened on June 7, 1972. He fought in Sydney at the Riverwood Legion Club. In that fight, he knocked out another popular Australian boxer, Wally Carr. This big win happened in the third round.
Fighting for a Title
Before that big win, Williams had fought for an important title. He competed for the Australian national Featherweight title. This fight took place on April 18, 1972, in Sydney. He lost that match to the champion, Lucky Gattellari, in the first round.
